Big Apple Bound?

KELSEY GOT INTO THE NEW SCHOOL MFA ACTING PROGRAM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

And I still am waiting to hear if I will be moving to Boston in June. But I have decided that no matter what happens I will be on the East Coast by September :) Kelsey and I were talking this morning about moving to a new big city by yourself and how terrifying it would be. So we decided, for reals this time, that we would move to New York together!! I'll probably end up staying in Santa Barbara this summer to make and save some money before I migrate. We are both trying to convince our friend/classmate/Kelsey's boyfriend Jak to make the move too. This way he and I can figure out the professional theatre world together. Which would be much less intimidating...

So, Big Apple, prepare yourself for Jen and Kelsey because we are coming for you!! And we are so excited!!

Pleasant Surprise.

So, I wake up this morning at 4 am for work, like I do. I roll over to turn the alarm on my phone off and I see that I have several emails. So I go through them real quick (mostly from Staples and Costco letting me know about awesome deals blah blah blah) and I see this "Roger Frank @ BSA." My first thought is "why is someone from the Boys Scouts of America emailing me at 4 am? And how the hell did they get my email?!" So I open up the email and read this:

Dear Jennifer Michaels

MA Acting: The British Tradition

Thank you for attending the audition in San Francisco for the above course, and for the interest you have shown in Birmingham School of Acting.

We have the pleasure to inform you that we are now in a position to offer you a place on the programme for entry in September 2011, the details of which you will find on the attached letter and form.

We have given you a three week window in which to decide if you would like to accept or decline the offer made.

If you have any queries, then please do not hesitate to contact us.

Regards
Roger

Wait- Rewind! I take it back!!

I take most of that last post back!

On Friday during load in for One Person Shows my friend Robert was saying how he received an acceptance letter in the mail from Harvard/ART. "Hmmm...." I thought, "Maybe I should check our mailbox."

Well, I didn't check it. And as my mom was driving me to the theatre for the show (because she is a baller and brought me dinner) I get a call from my roommate, Kelsey.

"I don't want to freak you out," she says, "but there is a letter here for you from Harvard."

At this point my mom starts screaming and yelling at Kelsey to open the letter. So I calmly tell Kelsey to bring it to the dressing room and I would open it there since I had to start curling my hair for the show. So Kelsey bikes the letter to the parking garage and hands me the letter. I open it and read the following:

March 1, 2011

Dear Ms. Michaels:

After careful consideration of our Institute applicants for the Class of 2013, we are writing to let you know that we have place you at the top of out list of alternates.

At this point my mom is screaming at me to tell her the contents of the letter. So I read to her and Kelsey what I had just read and continue reading:

This means that while we are not able to offer you a slot at this time, we plan to make you an offer if a place becomes available between now and April 1, 2011.

I should let you know that in years past we have always taken several of our alternates. We would appreciate it if you could let us know of your plans for next year and whether you would be available and interested in being considered for the class should a place become available.

We were very impressed with your work and hope you will seriously consider our offer to remain an alternate. Please let me know by March 11, 2011. The best way to reach me is via email (her email address). I look forward to hearing from you.

Sincerely,
Julia Smeliansky

So I emailed them Saturday morning letting them know that I was still very interested in their program, that I have no plans for next year, and would love to be considered for their class should a spot open up.

And now the waiting game begins... and I can honestly say I never thought I would be saying the words "I might be moving to Cambridge to attend Harvard after graduation." Crazy.
